The 21 states where employment discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is banned: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.

    • I was going to comment about how it’s obviously a coastal thing and Middle America just doesn’t get it, but I am happily shocked to see Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wisconsin on that list. Maybe there’s still a little bit of hope in this country after all.

  2. If you are transgendered/transsexual, intersexed, or otherwise do not conform to “gender norms”, you have even less protection: only 12 states and Wash DC make discrimination illegal.
