A Song About D&D, Sort Of

You’ve probably heard the song “Closing Time” by the band Semisonic. I saw them open for Barenaked Ladies once, and at that show they also performed a song called “DND,” which is obviously about hanging a “do not disturb” sign on a hotel room door.

But they say “DND” a lot, and it sounds like D&D, and the lyrics mostly fit with the idea of kids hanging out playing D&D, shutting out the real world (and perhaps bullies) to experience a fantasy world. Like:

DND
Now they’ll leave us alone

DND
Now you turn off the phone
How like you to make the whole world disappear and
How like you to make everything seem so clear and
How like you to make me want to stay forever
Here behind your door

Or even at a game convention where you have a great one-shot game with strangers and you want to make sure you stay in touch with them:

DND
Leave the hotel at noon
DND
Will I see you soon?

Anyway, some random bit of Sean nostalgia. :)
